Candle safety
WICOVA reminders and Vision guidance are aids. They never replace the safety instructions printed on the product or the judgement of the person in the room.
- Never leave a burning candle unattendedPut it out before you leave the room or go to sleep.
- Keep it within sight and out of reachAway from children, pets, curtains and anything that can catch fire.
- Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burnA shorter wick gives a steadier flame and less soot. Trim only when the wax is fully set.
- Burn for no more than four hours at a timeLet the melt pool reach the edge on the first burn, then rest the candle between sessions.
- Keep away from draftsMoving air makes the flame flicker, smoke and burn unevenly.
- Stop when about 1cm of wax remainsBurning to the bottom can overheat the vessel and the surface beneath it.
- Place on a stable, heat-resistant surfaceAnd keep lit candles at least 10cm apart.
Always follow the specific instructions supplied with your product. If a candle smokes heavily, flares or the vessel cracks, extinguish it and do not relight.
